Mario Kart Tour App User Reviews & Comments
Amazing initial releaseI have very high hopes for the game; though as I’ve seen the general amount of complaints and see them being mostly unfair. Many people complain about it playing vertical- but it’s honestly more accessible and something you can just quickly play with it being vertical- though it would be nice to see an option to flip your screen before the race, that’s no reason to completely disregard the game. Gameplay can be somewhat simplistic, but it’s fun and accessible to everyone: hardcore Mario kart fans and casual players alike, WHILE maintaining a competitive aspect and holding a skill gap as well. I’m looking forward to seeing multiplayer being released very soon, as in the menu there’s a button labeled “multiplayer” that says it’ll be added soon. Overall, this game is definitely worth your download, especially for a free app on your phone. Even though there’s a gold pass (which includes a two week free trial and is 5$/month) it doesn’t offer anything that would consider it pay2win, but supports Nintendo and also gives the player small benefits. Don’t go in expecting something like Mario kart from the switch translated straight to your phone, but it really feels at its core like a Mario kart game..Version: 1.0.1
New York Minute Map RantThe game is very fun, however I do find coin grinding to be a bit repetitive, only earning 50 gold per match. Also, New York is probably my least favorite map, making it very difficult for me to reach 5 stars, even though I play 150 cc every race or event I do. I don't have a driver that has more than 1 items slot,(there being only 4, all of which are above common[diddy kong, Bowser, Pauline, Mario with a suit])Before, I had a problem on this map in The Bowser cup, in which I grinded from level 4 to 12 on that map alone, taking me 3 days to eventually have rng side in my favor(I didn’t have the kart for x2-3 points, so being first on lap1 and 2, and reaching 1800 bonus points from random stuff to reach the 4,600 points I needed.) Overall, I am in a situation where 5 grand stars are half based on rng, hoping I get items instead of Mushrooms, and not getting hit AT ALL by other racers. I’ve got the drifting down, holding green shells and bananas for extra protection against red shells, and riding into other racers if they are riding me. Now its diddy kong cup, near situation except the goal is 5300 instead of 4600. And the characters this time are: Pauline, diddy kong, donkey kong, and mario with a suit. I have the highest tier cart for the level(x2 points) and a middle tier glider. However, I’m stuck with toad to chug through the race..Version: 1.0.1
Strange nuances of a complete gameI remember buying the original Mario Kart for the wii when it came out over a decade ago. It was my favorite game for several years and still ranks in my top ten to this day. Unfortunately, this game makes me feel like I’m playing a pirated version of that one. I understand that the mobile experience will never be the same, but the mechanics of the game, as well as the currency system, make it much less enjoyable than it could be. The major problem I have is that the point system is disproportionately luck based, whether it’s RNG determining whether you get hit with 5 shells in a row or not, or it’s the collection system that doesn’t give you the item and point advantage that you essentially need to get 5 stars, unless you buy more gems to have more options, of course. I could see how this game is designed to encourage the player to come back to previous cups after collecting more characters, but that seems pointless. The collection system and ruby micro-transactions borderline pay to win gameplay. The races themselves create the odd illusion that you’re playing against real people by assigning random usernames to AIs. Overall, the game is fun, but doesn’t reward the player for skill nearly as much as it should, which makes it frustrating and sometimes not worth it to play..Version: 1.0.1
I’m only doing this since multiplayer is available nowThe game is ok and it’s addictive because of nostalgia and the gambling of the pipe (which has problems in its own but that’s not what this review is about) I’m a little disappointed in the multiplayer at the moment. I was surprised that the mechanic of only 3 or so characters could get 3 items and have a frenzy was still a thing. I think a better option would to give everyone three items but make the chances of having a frenzy higher for the characters that go along with the map. Second I know it’s still glitchy because it’s still in testing but the ones I’ve seen are items disappearing, “teleporting”, and freezing. I know since it’s online that much can’t be done about the freezing; but when the round starts I don’t understand why there’s a chance of being at the starting line for up to a minute waiting for a countdown. Everyone is already in the lobby and has chosen their carts why can’t the race start Second part of my complaints Why the limitations on coins and xp? I understand that they don’t want people to be op but three hundred coin limit per day is a little stingy especially when the store changes everyday and even gliders cost up to 500 coins alone. Also 80% of the time the store is just filled with items you already have ,and so is the pipe ,I don’t think I should be able to spend rubies and get over 3 duplicates especially since they are so hard to get.Version: 1.6.0
RantGame doesn’t want you to win and even if you get first place, the game will base you off of your performance. This game will do anything in its power to help make the “other real players” win. Why quote on quote? Well because in the tour mode you are not actually playing with real player, they are just computer players generated with real player names and load outs. As I was playing this game I noticed something that was very annoying, I would click the button that allows me to view behind me and when I would let go, it would change my controls from Manuel drift to standard driving. Also, in a race when I was right next to a computer player, I was focused in on trying to get ahead of this computer BUT the computer player just TELEPORTS? Ahead of me? Haha wow if that’s how this game is going to be, I am better of playing a Mario kart game that is actually fair. Two more things, the prices and the gold pass. The prices to purchase rubies are just wow. You mean to tell me that I have to pay two dollars for 3 rubies, not even enough for a ONE SHOT PIPE. Now the Gold pass. Seriously? I have to pay 5 dollars A MONTH for: 200cc and bonus awards and display badges? And that’s basically it, 200 cc which will probably have the computer players act impossible to beat with the way they are programmed unless you have the top load out for the race, the bonus awards aren’t too bad but golden display badges? Really? They don’t even look that good..Version: 1.1.0
Fun and addicting, but some sketchy moves by NintendoFew things I found wrong here after playing for awhile. The number of different maps is limited, as each cup just makes a random combination choosing from a selection of maybe 10-12 of them. Secondly, just the option to pay for a “gold pass” (5$ monthly) is annoying to me. I hate in game subscriptions that just make you better than other players, it takes the fun out of the grind. Plus, limiting the amount you can level up riders, carts, and gliders in one day makes it seem like a clear money grab as the game forces you to pay for extra coins, gems, gold pass, etc. lastly, the obvious attempt at deceiving the players making it seem like they’re playing online when in reality it’s bots with creative names is a bit sketchy. I’ve seen tons of reviewers on the App Store alone actually believing that they are playing against real players when they enter a cup. This is a big deal because once you find out everything is just computer AI, it gets repetitive and boring fast. I really enjoy the way they condensed the game-play to fit into the quick style of phone games, I appreciate the grind aspect even if it seems to be cornering me into paying, and I hope the multiplayer that comes out on Saturday can redeem the other poor qualities of Mario Kart Tour. For now though, 3/5 is about the most you can give it..Version: 1.0.1
Nintendo did it again!!Booyah!!! I’m a huge Mario kart fan, so I was real excited when this came out! There is so many things, and when the Halloween tour came out, I was soooooo hyped that king Boo, FINALLY CAME!!!! It would be cool that you get to choose what high end thing you get if you pay for 45 rubies, but that’s just my two cents. Speaking of rubies, they are seriously hard to get, can you make it a little easier to get it? Or at least make the pipe draws cost less? It’s ok if you can’t, coins though, you can only get 300 per day and it costs around 12,000 to buy a high end from the shop. Can you make the max coins you can get at least 600?? It takes awhile to farm em, when all the cups are completed it feels like I’m waiting forever, I wish there was something else like a minigame where you are tryin to pop your opponent’s balloon. What about goombas? Mario’s most famous monster?? Or a carrage cart? That would be fun. Overall, AMAZING GAME, I RECOMMEND YOU TO PLAY INSTANTLY!!!!!!!!!! I WISH I COULD RATE HIGHER THEN FIVE 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 💯 STARS FOR THE AMAZING GAME THIS IS!!!!!.Version: 1.1.1
Incredibly fun game, but is legitimately P2WLet me preface this by saying that I'm currently a Gold Pass holder and I've purchased deals in the store. It seems like people try to brush off F2P player's complaints and that's not fair because they're allowed to voice their complaints and they're actually legitimate issues. With that said, this game is definitely P2W. In other games, while spending money can accelerate your progress there's typically a way for F2P players to make the same progress. Usually it's involves having to grind longer and harder, but they can get there. This is not the case with MKT. Every time a new tour starts there are gifts locked behind the Gold Pass paywall. These gifts are incredibly important to progressing in the game, yet the only way to get them from the gifts is to pay money every month. How is that fair? Maybe it's a small price for some, but not for everyone. When those people get left behind when trying to rank up and can't progress what are they supposed to do? This is the literal definition of P2W. Now onto another big issue. As I write this a new tour started today. In the current ranked cup there's a track and the only top tier driver for that course is locked behind a $40 USD offer in the store. Seriously, unless you're willing to spend that much money to get that driver, you will never have the top tier driver for this course. This isn't right..Version: 1.4.1
Fun at first, but nowCompared to when I first started playing, seems like the number of cups in each tour have gone down; and it takes forever for the next tour to come out, so it gets boring playing the same cups over and over. In the latest tour, the last cup, the only way to get 4 or 5 stars is to have high end drivers/karts/gliders...that’s BS. I’ve fired the pipe at least 30 times during this latest tour and I’ve only ever gotten 1 high end and 1 super. So you either pay for more rubies to fire the pipe again or you just don’t get the stars. Trash. Multiplayer is cool, but I’ve been booted out of so many multiplayer races which causes my ranking to lower, I didn’t choose to quit the race, I’m always connected to WiFi, so why should my ranking be affected, it wasn’t my fault. Also, in multiplayer, I just can’t believe some of the things that happen..like how am I getting hit by something every 3 seconds, or how was I way ahead of the group one second, then last the next second. I don’t think this game matches you up with players who are on or close to the same ranking as you, even though it’ll say we’re all the same ranking. Always feels like there’s something off about multiplayer. Shady. Definitely not getting any more of my actual money (canceled Gold Pass, spent max $40 for rubies). Just thinking about trying to level up makes my blood boil now, might just have to delete this app, no longer fun like it used to be..Version: 2.0.1
Game still broken even after bug fixes 🙄So I’m pretty annoyed rn. I really like this game and it’s super fun but when there’s a bug in a game that totally takes away the ability to play it, it’s annoying as hell. It’s even more annoying when there’s an update for the game that addresses the bug that your game has and somehow still doesn’t fix it. I have the bug where the game becomes unplayable after I start transitioning to the main game menu after loading up the game. I load it up and it turns black to transition but it just stays black and doesn’t do anything. It sucked when it first happened but I knew they’d eventually fix it so I waited. “Luckily” a day later an update for the game rolls out dealing with the problem so I immediately download it and load up the game again. To my disappointment however, the game still had the exact same bug. It did give me the option to clear my data cache to help restart the game and prevent the game from crashing again but that didn’t work. I even went and deleted the game and redownloaded it as a last resort and still, nothing changed. I’ve tried looking online to see if there’s anything else I could do and I didn’t find anything If any developers are reading this please fix this or let me know if this is possibly having to do with something on my side of things because I’m getting really annoyed. And if anyone else knows how to fix this please let me know.Version: 1.0.2
Decent but a few thingsLeft the game but later came back. I’m liking the game more however there’s some problems. So with this quarantine I have barely anything to do and this also is no different for everyone else. I suggest that the limit to coins and points should be removed because I don’t understand the point. People should be able to grind as much as they please especially when they are stuck at home. The gold pass is also in thinking and a lot of people can agree is stupid. It’s stupid because $5 a month is too much because your not getting too many benefits and it would have been understandable if it was permanent but it’s only for a month. At least try and do something to help us out because everyone is suffering and I’m sure there tons of people who are bored and depressed because they are stuck at home. Maybe if you can take advantage of this time and do something that’s going to get everyone’s attention and for a good idea, why not try and add Balloon battle and coin runners? I would hands down play a lot if those modes existed and a lot of other can agree! And if it’s multiplayer that makes it even better. Thank you for taking your time to read this. Please stay safe everyone while we are in quarantine.Version: 2.0.1
1-stars, 2-stars and 3-stars, y’all shut up how bad this gameNintendo, this is a once-in-a-lifetime Mario game I’ve seen! I love the game! And unlike other games, These have no ads! Really, there is never a single ad in these Mario games! I got Mario Run, Dr. Mario, and Mario kart, tried them all, no ads! Didn’t even have to pay for ad removals. Even though it’s an awesome game, there are 2 requests. Supers and High-Ends, TOO RARE. Can you drop the rarity? It took me a long time to get Mario and I can’t even get the Blue 7 or the Wild wing! The Blue 7 is the car I love the most! I loved it so much I used all the god dang time, and I can’t use now. Can it be in the shop everyday until we buy it? PLEASE?🥺🥺🥺🥺🥺 IT’S MY FAVORITE CAR. And it’s me, your biggest fan that wrote a 5-star review on Mario Run earlier. (Find it in rates and reviews on Mario Run. It has to say on the title “NINTENDO! NINTENDO OF AMERICA! PLEASE READ!!!”) Also, I wish we can play without having to use our Nintendo Account. What if someone doesn’t have one? What are they going to do, create one when they don’t know how to? No. PLEASE UPDATE IT WITH MY REQUESTS WHEN THE NEXT UPDATE!!! Have a nice day! And people giving it poor reviews, give Nintendo a little more credit or be crushed by me in they’re games! Info about me. DO NOT READ IF YOU’RE NOT A NINTENDO FAN! NINTENDO NAME: The Wolf EPIC GAMES NAME: The Wolf455.Version: 2.6.2
Nintendo: ever the letdownPop ups invade your game incessantly, making you watch the same animations time and again, wasting the same amount of time you spend playing the actual races. Its designed to keep you playing longer and not getting anywhere so that you make micro transactions that aren’t even worth it. Its straight luck ALL the time to complete a course ahead of the pack and with three stars because of the power ups. You can be a top notch racer but still get hit by a blue first place hunter or lightning and end up in dead last out of nowhere for absolutely no reason. If you don’t get multiple frenzies from that special character for each specific race (which is entirely luck based and their algorithm makes you play it dozens of times before you’ll get what you need) good luck getting those stars. Aside from that, the drift and steering controls only work about half the time. Go figure given how luck based the game to begin with. It’s a cheap and nasty phone game to keep customers pliant for their next “big release” which is usually a let down anyway, relying on old fans to bring in the new fans who will play the same tired old games that dont even work. I never fail to be disappointed by their products mostly because they never respond to the feedback with updates that fix the bugs. They just ignore it and go off the “5 stars” that avid fans give them in SPITE of poor quality gaming because they are avid fans. Shocker..Version: 1.6.0
Good, but needs improvementI do enjoy this game quite a bit. I’d even go as far as to say this is my favorite mobile game. But there needs to be improvement. For 1, why are the races only two laps long when the tracks are already pretty short? Mario Kart has pretty much always had three lap races and I’m sure adding one extra lap would make this all the bit better. 2, how come we got three baby characters, 3 Mario’s, 2 Peaches, and 2 Bowsers, but not Waluigi, Rosalina, Wario, and (most importantly) LUIGI!? I know the series has already had this problem, and hey, instead of Pink Gold Peach and Baby Rosalina we got the return of Diddy Kong and Pauline making her first appearance in the series. But (instead of Waluigi being cut from Mario Kart 7) Nintendo has never taken out important characters like the ones I’ve mentioned and instead have more clones and Baby Characters. And 3, the one you’ve all been waiting for, the EA like micro transactions. You have to pay $5 per month for a membership. That’s more than a Nintendo Switch membership! However, this game is still kind of fun. The controls feel tight, the tracks are fun, and the game looks surprisingly good for mobile. It just had to be bogged down by the bad stuff. Overall, I like this game, it just needs improvements to make it better..Version: 1.0.1
Attention Developers‼️‼️‼️I love this game. I have since I was a child. But lately I’ve been unable to play because it won’t load the game, it’s constantly asking me to download something and even after I do it will say the game has crashed. I was loving playing this game again and just got back into it but every time I’ve tried to play this week I’ve waited minutes upon minutes Nd it just won’t load. Even if I’m on WiFi, or if I try using my data. No matter what it’s problems. I was playing for weeks with this Happening occasionally but now it’s just to the point I’m about to give up because I can’t get the game to even start up! And yes I’ve downloaded all the updates and extra in-game downloading but I expect a game to start up in seconds, not hours lately *maybe’* I’d really like to get back into the game so if you can resolve this issue that would be great. When this game is working I will give it 5 stars but the technical difficulties are making me feel like I’m in 2002 again. Not 2020. I realize this is a difficult time in the world right now but it’s been happening far longer than that and only gotten worse and worse. And we shouldn’t have to download something every other day that should be fixed too. Please get back to me when bug fixes are actually resolved. Thanks for your time. I hope your team will read this review..Version: 2.0.1
Needs improvementThis game was super hyped up when it first got announced and I was excited to play it when it was originally supposed to come out over the summer. For a game that got delayed by several months, it definitely still has some issues and could use improvement. First of all, the controls are pretty horrible. In drift mode, you are practically forced to drift through the entire race because whenever you’re tapping on the screen you start to drift, which means you can’t go straight unless you’re not tapping the screen, making it extremely hard to control. On the other hand, in regular mode you can hardly make it around turns. I was excited to try out the gyro controls, only to find out that they’re even worse than the manual controls. The gyro mode is SUPER delayed and you have to turn your phone really far to get it to even move. The game as a whole is just really slow, especially when racing, which takes away the exhilarating factor of a racing game. I’m hope that they either fix the controls or just add an in-game circle pad altogether. Also, the graphics are great, but I’d assume that’s why the game is so slow, so hopefully that is sped up a bit in the future as well. As for now, the game isn’t all to entertaining considering its speed and serious lack of decent controls, but it’s Mario Kart mobile nonetheless so at least that’s a start..Version: 1.0.1
Multiplayer needs a little workI love the game - rarely am I loyal to an app, but this one gives you so many options to achieve things (even without in game purchases) that it has kept me hooked for months. I much prefer the single-player to multiplayer because I find the multiplayer laggy and frustrating. A lot of the time I’ll hit someone with a shell or something but there’s no crash time to catch up, so many of the items are rendered moot. I’ve seen a lot of the players also blip in and out in front of me, which makes it hard to use items as well as see a genuine representation of where everyone is on the track. I have a super strong wifi connection that works well with other apps, so I know it’s not that. It also puts a lot of stress on my phone and I have to stop playing after a few races so it doesn’t get too hot (although I do have an iPhone 8 so that might be my problem). It’s also annoying that everyone plays as the same 1-2 characters when we all get the same special items, like boomerangs, and the game becomes more mayhem than anything else else. I know it’s a new feature and I feel like it will get better with time, but I figured I’d leave some feedback anyway in case the developers see it..Version: 2.0.1
Insanely over-pricedThis ios game can easily become well more expensive than just purchasing a Nintendo switch and Mario kart game for the console. In order to move forward in the game you have to collect stars. In order to get enough stars to move on you need the characters from the pipe and the odds of getting them are crazy low. Buying rubies will give you more turns to fire off the pipe, but they are insanely over-priced. To get all the characters you will need to win, you’ll need to spend~$20-$40 for the bundles or up to $70 for rubies *each* new tour to be able to gain enough points to win cup matches. Basically, it costs money to win, so anyone who can’t afford to buy the rubies/characters will ultimately have to settle for losing cup matches or try to get really lucky on the pipe (you can win first place all day, but if you don’t have enough to level up and get the new characters, you won’t earn enough points to move up). The current Ice Tour is a great example. In the Rosalina Cup, you have to have a vanilla Mario to activate frenzy mode in the second race. Vanilla Mario costs $40. The point of the game is to win, so you want to get the most points. In order to get the points, you’ll need to activate frenzy mode. So again, unless you can afford to buy the new characters, you will lose and not move forward in the game after a certain point, even if you’re winning first place..Version: 1.4.1
Decent 1st Version, Definitely Still Needs WorkThe initial released version of the game is decent, but there are several issues that make the game only 3 or 4 out of 5 stars. First, there is no way to allow you to decide if you want to steer regularly or to turn by drifting other than choosing Settings WHILE THE RACE IS STILL GOING and change the setting for manual steering and hope nothing happens while you do that. Second, when making very small changes in direction to straighten myself out I’ve frequently accidentally used items. Both of these issues could be resolved by changing the touch controls. I’d suggest having holding your finger on the screen should allow regular turning while a tap near the kart will allow drifting, and also having a tap away from the kart to use items. A third (minor) issue is not being able to slow down. I’ve had several cases where a Blue Shell is closing in when I’m barely in 1st and my only option to get in 2nd is to do a hard turn into a wall so the other kart gets hit instead. Good things about the game is the very low cellular data usage when no Wi-Fi is available, the ability to auto use current items when you go through an item box so you get new items, and the great courses. I look forward to seeing the issues fixed so there will be nothing bad holding the game back..Version: 1.0.2
Nostalgia At It’s Finest & The Current State Of The Game.Mario Kart Tour is something I had been waiting on for while. Just hoping a Mario Kart game would make it to mobile one day. I guess it’s good that it took a bit of time because playing this game brings me back good memories of playing on some MK games like Mario Kart DS, Mario Kart 7, and Mario Kart 8. It’s like a big combination of all three, which I think is amazing obviously. With it being a mobile game there are some problems with touch controllers but it not enough to say that it ruins the game. I like the idea of being able to get different characters and seeing characters in outfits I would have never seen them in their games wearing. This asset to the game is probably if not one of the best reasons to play the game. You can now play with friends against bots or just players which is nice. The only thing I hope for is to be able to invite a friend to play against other online players in the future. One last thing, for the next Mario Kart game if any Nintendo workers read this, PLEASE... PLEASE add in these outfits to the game and stages from tour. They are short but with some editing that can be fixed. For real though I feel like Mario Kart should’ve been doing the outfit thing way before this game, it’s okay though. Other then that the game is really fun, and it fits really well compared to other games on the App Store visually and gameplay..Version: 2.4.0
The steering is horribleTo start the game looks stunning and from the limited time I have played it seems to run fine on my 8plus however as soon as I hoped on the game and started to race I could instantly tell the steering mechanics were awful. There were numerous times when I would be pulling my thumb to right just to have my character not respond. I’m not sure if it’s a game issue or if I’m doing something wrong but the controls are not intuitive what so ever. Even after I turned on the tilt controls I still had trouble orienting my character the right way. The controls almost seem as if they were purposely made bad for some reason. I think they might be better if there was a button you could press with your other thumb to drift instead of the game just doing it automatically as it causes you to lose control consistently. Also I’m a bit lost as to why they decided to put the game in portrait mode instead of landscape, the choice just seems odd to me as I think that having the game in landscape would allow for much more such as an actually steering wheel, brakes and gas which would be a nice addition. Over I see there is potential in the game I’m just dumbfounded that this is the control scheme they decided to go with. Overall the game could be great they just need to fix the steering..Version: 1.0.1
Very funI’ve had a blast with Mario Kart Tour in my first 2 hours of playing it. Yes, there are some micro transactions in that game that are not necessary unless you are completely desperate for a character, kart, or glider, but I personally don’t care so it’s not a big deal. I’ve had more fun with this game than I normally do when playing any other Mario Kart, and that’s kind of surprising. Of course there is a limit to what you can do here, but it’s still very enjoyable. There are some faults though, like the fact it’s really easy, and I can usually get 1st place in one try. Then there’s the fact you start off with a character that is completely random, and when you wanna get something from the pipe it’s usually not a character, but even if it is it’s usually not one you want. The last one, is that I’m not a huge fan of the fact that you have to play it with your phone in vertical position because it kind of makes it harder to see things to your side. Some pros about this game are, the music is great, and very high quality for a free game. It can keep your attention for a few hours if you have nothing better to do. Also, it has a lot of Mario Kart courses that are in this free game which is kind of surprising. Alright, that’s all the time I got, I gotta get back to playing Mario Kart Tour..Version: 2.4.0
Needs to be a little more realistic for players.Love this game. I literally play every day. However, - like the many others who have mentioned in their reviews - it is difficult to obtain rubies, and when you do, the pipe does not reward great prizes - even with the gold pass! I spend money on the gold pass every month, and I feel like I should get more perks with it other than being able to race at 200 cc and getting a few boosts tickets. Who in their right mind would spend $40 just to get a red yoshi and a bunch of rubies???? As much as I want a red yoshi or a red bullet blaster, I couldn’t even fathom spending that much in order to obtain them. It’s like this, you go into a store, such as paper source (for the girly girls out there), or game stop? (for the guys???, sorry no clue what dudes like), and you see a product such as heart shaped balloons or valentine themed tea that you don’t NEED but would love to have because they’re hella cute; I am guessing you would be willing to spend money on these things if it were in a reasonable price range, yes? And this would probably be beneficial to the sellers as well, right? Except you are all but surprised to see these unnecessary but alluring products require nearly half your budget for the week. It’s lame, really. Unless you’re rich, or spending money unwisely, it’s not very realistic for us commoners..Version: 1.6.0
Please fix!Hi, So I love MarioKart. I have it on my Nintendo Switch so I thought it would be fun to get it on my IPhone. So my first problem is, my game crashes like 90% of the time. I will be in the middle of a race and it will crash. It also crashes right after I finish a race and when it does that it doesn’t save my progress. My other problem is the rubies. They are SUPER hard to get, and when I finally get enough to do a pipe, I get something really bad/something I already have. I have like none high ends. And you can buy rubies, but it’s a crazy amount of money for just 5. And you can pay for high end karts/players but they are also like 40 DOLLARS for a pack. I can’t make you guys change the rubies thing, but PLEASE fix the crashing because I have a older phone and I’m not getting a new phone for MarioKart. All my other apps are fine. UPDATE: The crashes have gotten worse. Also, what’s the problem with updates??? You have to update so often and it takes a long time to update just to play a game that always crashes. And am I the only one with horrible luck? My dad plays it and he has like 20 high ends so he gets lots of points. I have like 3 high ends!!! And theres soooooo many high ends to get and you have a horrible chance to get them! I also saw that you CAN get a FREE golden pipe. But thats if you finish all the races! And I cant get through even one race without it crashing! Help!.Version: 2.4.0
THIS GAME IS AMAZINGThis is by far one of the best mobile games ever created. First of all there are no ads even for free players. The gold version would be awesome if you have a couple extra bucks each month because it gives you an opportunity for more characters, karts, & gliders. And the selection of things is seemingly endless. There are SO MANY characters, karts, & gliders to win in the pipe. Challenges to keep up more motivation to play, leveling up all your stuff so even when you don’t get a new thing in the pipe you’re still leveling up your current items. They also have so many nostalgic courses and every once & a while will throw in some exclusive Mario Kart Tour courses. This game is amazing. Literally the only two requests I have is to make the gyro steering have an option to turn the sensitivity up, when I am not drifting I like to tilt my phone to steer but it’s not nearly sensitive enough so I end up having to use the steer touch control in the bottom left corner. Also, please bring back the Vancouver and the new rainbow road track, and maybe get a newer version of Bowser’s castle would be super awesome. Thanks for all of the hard work to the developers of this game. You guys kill it..Version: 2.4.0
Great, but with a Glaring ProblemI have uninstalled and reinstalled my game more than three times, and while I enjoyed a good while where my problem did not happen and I was racing joyously, the game has been continuously showing me a message at startup that I must update my game to continue playing. There are two buttons below this message. The first one, which says,”How to Update” takes me to what I’d assume would be an FAQ or tutorial if it didn’t display an error message in its place. The second, aptly named,”Check Store”, takes you to - you guessed it - the App Store. Here you would expect to find an update ready to be installed, however the button usually used as the update button only says,”open”, signaling that there is indeed no update available. My friends and colleagues have also confirmed that their copies of the game are working, leading me to continue to wonder why I cannot play a game I have been excited for since it’s announcement. I cannot stress enough how amazing this game is to play and how it is truly amazing to have this caliper of a title on my phone. However, this problem puts a damper on every aspect of the fun of this game, since I cannot even access the title screen. If this problem were to be fixed, my rating would no doubt raise to five stars, but as of right now my opinion and rating of this title sits at a lowly two out of five..Version: 1.0.1
This could have been much betterI was pretty excited for this game to come out. Mario Kart is one of my favorite Nintendo series. Unfortunately, it’s hard to enjoy. I really only have fun with it one or two days every two weeks, since other than that cups only release once per day. I’m really not a fan of ranked cups, it’s a bit unfair when you’re against people who do the in-app purchases (which are WAY too overpriced). It’s always so hard and repetitive since you’re only playing three tracks over and over. And if you don’t get top row for everything, you’re kind of screwed. It’s especially annoying when you get to higher tiers and it’s way harder to progress, not to mention you go down if you get bottom 10 (which is way too many people, bottom 5 would make more sense). Unfortunately, it’s really the only practical way to get rubies. Tour gifts are way too slow and buying them is way too expensive. (Why the heck does the gold pass cost more than NSO?) To say something positive, it is pretty fun playing new cups and I like how we continuously get new tours. I also think bonus challenges are fun (except maybe smash small Dry bones and mega battles). I’ve been wanting them back in Mario Kart, and it’s cool to see them here. All in all, I feel like this app mostly just wastes my time and I kind of wish I’d never downloaded it. It also really makes me want Mario Kart 9. And it better be on the switch..Version: 1.6.0
Mario Kart’s always fun, but this one’s the worst. Why are all of Nintendo’s mobile games post-Super Mario Run so painful to play? You just want to play the game and have fun, but the game annoys you into wasting your money on what’s ultimately a garbage product. You just want to play as Mario, but you have to do this dumb gambling garbage that’s OUTLAWED IN CERTAIN COUNTRIES. Gee, I wonder why? You look at other games on the market and think “Sheesh, this game is not player friendly”, then you look at this game and wish you were playing something else instead. It’s the little things about this game that annoy me most, such as the way the music was sped up—done in such a way to which the pitch increases along with the speed, the horrendously high scores you need to get in order to get 5 stars in what’s ultimately a luck-based match, etc on top of etc. Online, TRUE online is the one thing that could’ve saved this game, and it’s coming, but why isn’t it just out now? Nintendo’s image isn’t looking too good. They were the good guys, the wholesome company. Now, the opposite is true. From the way they handled joycon drifting, to their mobile endeavors, this just isn’t right. It’s not the Nintendo I grew up with. This is EA levels of shady and detestable. If someone from Nintendo actual reads this message, GET SOME HELP. If any consumers are reading this, don’t waste your valuable time on this game. Play a legitimate Mario Kart, not this cheap knockoff..Version: 1.0.1
Editing my review. Lost another star.Edit: You made the game much worse. The players that I am going against have gotten higher points than me in the Tour Ranking System, which caused me to lose a tier last tour. I preferred the previous system — 3 tiers up for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd, and no tiers down. But the new system — only 1st place getting 3 tiers up — can get me to lose so many tiers that I’ll go back to Tier 19. And I understand that it gets harder, but now it’s too hard. Please change this and I’ll put it back to a four star. Original: The game is fun and I have gotten addicted. If you see a person named iRxsesAreRed, that’s me, right there. However, I do not like the maximum coin and EXP amount. I end up getting the max in 30 minutes and it’s just annoying. I understand, but I like to grind a ton and it’s preventing me from doing that a lot. Maybe we should pay 100 coins to grind more, or just get rid of the maximum coin and EXP per day count. Change that and I’ll make it a five star. Actually, no, because that just means it’s perfect. Games are never perfect. Edit: The price of the Gold Pass is cheap, in my opinion, but the character packages are too expensive. Also, I agree with some reviews, the cost of purchasing Rubies are too expensive. 2 Rubies should had been $0.99, not $3. That’s just a big cash-grab..Version: 1.4.1
Great game, but wait......Great graphics, sounds, and gameplay during races (a couple tweaks to allow turning and drifting without using motion controls would be nice however). As of now this game is a cash grab (I’ll get to this later), with the only “online” feature is to compete for the highest score in the one ranked cup that is opened. In this game the score is calculated based on how well you place, what karts/characters/gliders you use on a level to level basis, tricks, and item use. Other than tricks and placement in races, everything is dependent on your collection of parts and characters which give you various buffs in race, which all happen to be locked behind a loot box system that is the entire progression system. If you want to unlock or level up your characters and parts you use the pipe each costing 5 rubies, which paid for costs $2 for 3 rubies (bonus thrown in for bulk). The other option is the gold pass, this costs $5 a month, giving you a few more awards and the fastest game mode, 200cc. If you do the math that’s triple Nintendo switch online for a year that now has a Mario kart game for free, and the same amount for the huge amount of games that come with Apple’s streaming service. If this game wasn’t pay to win, then it would get 5 stars, otherwise it’s stuck where it is..Version: 1.0.1
How???I have been playing Mario kart since the wii (I’m 16) and I’m disappointed in the people playing around me, you can tell they don’t know what Mario kart is and this is there first go around that’s fine if it’s your first Mario kart what’s not fine it the devs making everything so in your face like the start boost timing they tell you what it is in Mario kart wii I had to find that crap out on my own also the drifting control setting is cancer the only way to turn normally is to move you whole phone this is ok in other racing games where you play on landscape but you have to play portrait (as of my understanding) and the game feels so heavy and floaty like a brick trying to figure skate that the one race I tired drift on I got 8th and found my self on multiple occasions having my phone at a 90 degree angle to the side I wanted to turn making follow up turns near impossible and smart steering while being a toggle should be on at all times to make the game even remotely fun or playable. Currently I am first on kuppa cup tier one my name is Jesus if you see me know I have problems with the game but will probably keep playing because despite my problems the game runs great and I am having fun playing. Also I have no idea how the hell I ranked so high on the kuppa cup..Version: 1.0.1
Pretty good game, but..This game was exciting the least being able to play it on your phone. It’s pretty much the same basic game it was from me being a kid, but there’s a couple issues that I find very, VERY annoying. As it comes to skill, I’d say I’m pretty good at drifting but, as it turns out from my experience, attempting to turn in such a way can get the character to stay in a turning animation, which annoys the crap out of me, I look at the top left corner of my screen as my character is STILL stuck in the turning animation, reading the words “7th place”, you kidding me right? I was just in 1st..It only gets worse...I like being in first, you’d probably be too, it’s fun to get a challenge here and there, trying to keep your place in 1st, but..you get bumped behind from the person in 2nd, all of a sudden you’re here waiting for your character to move, and it’s just staying there??? Your suddenly NOT in 1st, no, you’re in 4th, now 6th, and now you’re in last, and wait? That was the last lap too?? Okay... I have to win now, no exceptions...yess I’m in first again, there’s no stopping me this time..finally the last lap, I got this one in the bag.. oh shoot, a shells about to hit me, my character isn’t moving again! It’s literally, taking, its time.. wait what happened?? I was just in first?? No wait..I’m in last, again.. and everyone has already crossed the finish line...Version: 1.0.1
Tiers please respond.I feel like there should be some compensation for players who have been playing since the game came out originally tier 20 was the max, but now I have achieved tier 20 and have had it for the last 3 weeks or so but recently I got a challenge to make it to tier 30 I’m suppose to move up 3 tiers every time I get 1st yet these last 3 I have stayed in Tier 20 but this week I only got 4th which instead of the last few weeks when I played I got first, this tier the people I’m playing with are 6,000 points higher than me putting me in 4th and try as I might I won’t be able to move up 3 tiers because I couldn’t before, my friends who are the same tier I am are at 34,000 points and are in first in their tier while I’m at 33,000 and I am 4th where the top score is over 38,000 It just feels like the Tier system needs some fixes, I am a gold pass player and I know this game will be so much more fun with those bug fixes thank you for making my first mobile game I am addicted to. Oh and I would appreciate if you took away Kart and Coin limits so I feel I can afford and level up to at least get pretty close to what all these other players are getting..Version: 1.2.0
Nice game butGame has the potential to be good. I love this game no lie but a few things that i don’t like about it. I don’t like that my store literally gives us the same stuff every week. Like they need to put other stuff in the store cause i see the SAME people every week. Also the pipeline is ok but there is no guarantee you’ll get anything gold and who wants to spend all that money on rubies ? No. Also half of the races to get a good score you have to have some of the legendary stuff but you have to hit the pipe in order to get it and again it isn’t guaranteed. Like this game is sooo Money hungry it’s ridiculous. I loved this game when it first came out but it’s starting to lose its fun because you gotta have Money to get good people. I usually beat all the cups anyway except for some because i wont have have either a good character, car, or glider because it had to be one from the pipe. I would rather them put them in the shop at times to instead of seein donkey Kong, Mario, peach, and yoshi every week which is so aggravating. I play it of course because it is a fun game don’t get my wrong but i just wish it wasn’t so money hungry and like they should come up with different ways to earn more of the legendary stuff instead of just hitting the pipe or getting two good items on the gold pass..Version: 1.4.1
Mario Kart Tour (Great game but needs a little work)I enjoy playing this game a lot. It does bring nostalgia to old MarioKart games with all the previous awesome courses. With its many perks, MarioKart tour is a game that needs a few changes in my opinion. First, I think that after each level you get to, you should get rubies every level instead of every 5 levels. To add on, I also feel like the number of rubies should increase as you level up. Because it takes longer to reach higher levels, the leveling reward should be more worth it. Second, I don’t think that tours should take 2 weeks. I feel like that is too long. I finished the Mario and Luigi tour in a matter of days and I am constantly playing the same races over again. I think that tours should last at most a week, or more cups should be added to each tour. Regarding rubies, I feel like there should be an easier way to get more. In my opinion, I think that the daily gift should function as days in a row. So for example, on day one, you get one daily gift. On day 2 you get 2 daily gifts and so on until that certain tour is complete. And each day you log in in a row, the daily gifts should increase from the previous day. Also, the game could have ruby challenges like the daily grand star missions. Anyway, like I said, Mario kart tour is a great game. I know how hard Nintendo has been working during COVID so keep up the good work. 👍.Version: 2.6.2
Very funGame is really fun but there’s a problem with the control see when you I guess what I’m really trying to say is that when you remote control your character it doesn’t go where you want it to go it goes anywhere else and if you wanna brand new character for yourself it does it do that so you have to spit all your coins on characters instead of cars and stuff and now we got a buy new cars and stuff and we want the one we won and that’s kind of a rip off so I would have to say that it’s kind of unfair because because it’s not fair and I don’t like it anyway so if you like the character in the game it’s kind of like the ink traps and banana trap is set all the straps and those mystery boxes are fun but not that far because you know why it’s kind of hard because not to not get the one that you don’t watch so yeah it’s kind of unfair to others to all the people that play Mario kart real world tour so yeah that’s a love it I love that it shows me the different worlds and I get different cars and the characters and it’s really fun but I still want you to change the game a little bit make it a little easier said harder make it like four so we don’t fall off the course.Version: 2.8.0
Hello Mario cartI love this game tbh, I play everyday max my exp gain and my coin gain every time, but the game needs more you see my family plays too and they are getting bored because there’s not enough rewards to help them out. They are new and I want to help them but u guys just made it even harder for them with the all the tours needing to do 5000 points when they don’t even have anything to help them out. Plus for us loyal players we are getting the same rewards like the ultra rare character (or legendary character) was the same as the first tour really made me mad. I got gold for items that I don’t have, not for items that we all have... all I’m asking is for u guys to give us hope that something big is coming a light for me to keep playing this game because after two or three more tours I might stop playing and never look back because it seems that all the things everyone is saying is that all u guys just want money... please help me believe that, that’s not true. Help me believe that Nintendo wants loyal fans instead of money. For all the people that are thinking of playing I would say try it out this game is great but it will be hard for you to pick it up. And with that I say good luck..Version: 1.1.1
A decent pastime. But only just.I enjoy playing Mario Kart Tour. I do. (I think.) The controls take some getting used to, but are pretty inconsistent. The courses are challenging without being impossible. There are lots of variations of the races, especially if you play long enough. But I’m not a person who pays money for the “guacamole” features. That is, I’ll pay to buy a game I really want (which you don’t have to with this one, don’t worry), but I’m not going to pay a subscription price for a higher tier of gameplay, or a la carte for rank up materials. And that’s where this game has really let me down. It’s very clear that players who do spend cash get preferential treatment. They get characters that can’t be had any other way, and are often necessary to complete “basic” challenges. They’re the only ones who can effectively move up in ranks in the very flawed multiplayer arena, as they get folded in with the “no cash” crew, and (I suspect) are able to reach speeds the rest cannot. And heaven forbid you don’t want to share your location, and feed extra data to the game! (Probably a backdoor for making money.) Then you’re really out of luck in multiplayer races. The whole game is a brightly colored distraction, which is wonderful...if that’s all you’re looking for. If you are AT ALL competitive, watch out. This game will frustrate you to no end, unless you have money to burn..Version: 2.0.1
This app is awesome but...I really love having Mario cart on my phone but the hardest thing is finding a way to get rubies without buying them. I don’t pay for things in my app so it’s hard to get rubies to use the pipe or to play coin rush. Also you are limited to the amount of points you can get after races to help raise your car, glider, and driver. I only play a couple of races before I reach my limit and I still want to play but I can’t or my stuff will be cheated on points. I also don’t think there are enough races in each tour, if they can make a couple more for more experienced players or like another smaller tournament for the tiers I mean it would be more fun. They could limit the points for the other races but could keep the points for the tier races. I don’t pay for stuff in app, like I said, so when they make a pack that you can only pay for, and is impossible to get otherwise, it’s not fair for the players who’s parents or guardians, or even if there phone, won’t allow them to earn the cars, players, and gliders. One last thing I think they should make a multiplayer mode so they can connect with there friends or family it would make a great group game.I think they should make some improvements towards those things otherwise I think this game is really fun and helps pass time or is just entertaining..Version: 1.6.0
MARIO CART TOURThis game is really fun their only a few things that need to be looked at. The first thing is this game crashes some time u expect stuff like that because it’s new and every one is trying to play so when that’s fixed that would help so we wouldn’t have to start over a race. My secound thing is the controls could be way better if they put two arrows so u can steer theirs a lot of understeer when u play this game u drift way to much or don’t turn right on sharp corners that would honestly make this game way better and more fun to race with this controls. My third thing is their are micro trans actions so if u want the best characters u do have to buy the gold pass to me it does make a huge difference it gives u things free to play players won’t have or get because it’s exclusive to the gold pass for $5.99 I mean I know their trying to get money but this isn’t the way to get it. The point of games it to earn ur stuff not buy ur way to it so if u we’re planning to get platinum Mario u can’t unless u get the gold pass sorry guys. Their also is an online mode coming in future updates I hope it’s real player real time. I want to be able to send my friends invites so we can play together in our own lobby we create not with otheir people make it 2 separate online modes pvp and friend pvp. That’s all.Version: 1.0.1
Great game, but could be improvedI enjoy the game greatly, it’s a fun way to kill time and the graphics are awesome to see on an iPhone and not on a Switch or Wii-U. The concept is fair and I enjoy the gameplay. However, there are some thing that should be changed in my opinion. For example, there is a daily limit on how much you can upgrade your items. And another one I would like to stress is that as you progress, each level gets increasingly difficult to rack up points, thus obtain more stars to unlock more cups. To me, that just doesn’t make sense. The average points received on a good game (considering you got 1st place, drifted, jump boosts, fought your way to 1st, etc.) you would probably get around 4 to maybe 6 thousand points. But in the later cups, 6 thousand points barely gets you three stars, while in the before cups, you’re easily getting five stars. I just don’t see how it’s possible to get ten thousand points in a single 2-lap race, when getting points is capped daily. So each item, and each character can’t be leveled to the full potential because of the max variety, and the daily caps. If these things were to be fixed or tweaked somehow, I would easily give this a five star rating. This is such a good, unique mobile game but these issues are just roadblocks for me and whoever else plays the game..Version: 1.0.2
Don’t bother with the 1 star reviewsOkay first of all, this is NOT A PAY TO WIN game. I repeat. This is NOT A PAY TO WIN game. The game DOES NOT ask you for any money nor do you need to spend anything to get further in the game. I actually respect Nintendo for making the micro-transactions pricey to discourage paying your way through the game. Those who are complaining haven’t even played for a couple days so their complaints about controls and how hard the game is shows the little effort they put in. Which isn’t much. So again no money is needed. Not even to make a Nintendo account, which only take like 5 minutes to make. So stop complaining about the small things. Second, the reason I gave it 4 stars instead 5 is because of the unplayable multiplayer. I have hope that the reason they are taking their time is because they are not just trying to make it against friends you add but other people around the world. I do have my worries though that the multiplayer will be asynchronous, meaning against AI but with multiplayer data. If that is so, then I’ll delete the game in a heartbeat because I’m tired of companies putting more thought into the money they want to make instead of making a quality multiplayer experience..Version: 1.0.1
Has the potential to be waaaaay betterI understand Nintendo wanted to go for the whole “play with one hand” type of thing but the game could be sooooo much better. For one I like the Wii version of mario kart a thousand times better...if its possible to create a controller for the wii on regular smart phones so that I can still play my Wii that would be nice so keep that into consideration. Anothee thing WHY IS THERE NO WIRELESS MULTIPLAYER!???!!!! I want to compete against my friends not against the computer and against some random players, thats what made mario kart, mario kart. You could play by yourself or compete against friends when needed. In reality I was being nice by giving it three stars, its not a bad game but it really could be better, the app really wont last long if you dont get the multiplayer option and then can the controls not be soooo simple because a landscape option for the phone would be ideal so that we can be in control of our speeds and even have a mobile device tilting option to steer because right now everything feels like its been figured out for us and takes away the players control over the game which is not the authetic mario kart because we chose our speed and we chose how to steer and we chose how to use items and this mobile app takes all of that away. Please please please please do better because we all know that you can..Version: 1.0.1
READ THIS!!!!!!!!!I’ve always loved MARIO cart so I want to make a few suggestions for this game. First you should add more of the old tracks like the raid now one railroad one the like snow one the penguin one all those good ones along with new ones as well. Also you should add that game on the wii where you have a team and you try to pop as many balloons as possible. Also you should add more games that you can play with friends as well. All I’m saying is if you add all the stuff you could possibly add to this game it will be literally the perfect game ever. Hopefully you read this and hopefully my suggestions were helpful! I feel that stuff you add to the app you should keep on it bc making the old tours go away is kinda stupid to me bc now you can’t do those races again and i like all the courses and I think you should just keep them on there and add things to it. I think you should make a button for the different tours so you don’t have to take them off the game. I also want to say if you were to make a game that was so much fun on the wii you should make it better than the old one not worse and I feel it’s not as good as the wii one. You should also add the motorcycles like the wii.Version: 1.0.2
Really Nintendo?Don’t get me wrong with the title. I really enjoy this game. The controls are smooth (after getting used to them), the throwback tracks are super fun to play on, even the characters in the game are great picks (where’s waluigi and luigi tho?!). Anyways those aren’t why i gave this game 4 stars. The only reason i don’t enjoy this game as much is because there is no skill involved whatsoever. You can be great at past mario kart entry’s and beat every single cup on 150cc, mirror, 200cc, it really doesn’t matter the amount of skill you obtain when you start the game. The only thing that will get you a 1st place in this game is really really good RNG. Now, if you don’t know what RNG means, it stands for Random Number Generator. The gist of it is, (depending on what place you are in) you get a random item from the item boxes based on a random number picked by the game. When i said there is no skill involved, that’s not an understatement. The only thing that will win you races in this game is you depending on the games RNG to give you good items, and more importantly, you’re opponents getting bad items. Nintendo, if you are reading this, please in any way, shape, or form, PLEASE make this game not luck based and make it skill based in any way you possibly can. Over and out..Version: 1.0.2
Fun Game, Improvements NecessaryI waited to write this review until I was well into the game just to see what changes were initially made. I think the racing itself is awesome; cool karts, characters, gliders, etc... However, I think the limits on how many points and coins you can acquire each day is entirely too low. I can play for 30 minutes and reach this limit. It makes it very hard to achieve high points on items, which makes it hard to advance in the game. If you pay for a gold pass, there should be no limit to your daily points or coins. Additionally, I think that rubies are entirely too expensive (both real money & virtually) and they don’t necessarily guarantee good items from the pipes. I think that you should be able to purchase rubies with coins collected in the game & 48 rubies should not cost $27, especially since they don’t guarantee you’ll receive anything valuable to your game play. If the rubies were less expensive and had a higher chance of getting something good, I think that people would have more incentive to buy them!! If these improvements are made, I think a lot more people would play. I personally know people that played when the game first came out, but quickly left due to these issues. I hope the concerns raised by avid and loyal players are considered by Nintendo. ~Riley.Version: 1.4.1
Great game not executed wellI play this game EVERYDAY literally the only game that was respectable and honorable enough to be on my tablet and I'm dissapointed 😫. Nintendo had A GREAT MONEY Making game but idk if it's really making money lol why do I have to pay 2$ for 3 rubies #NotGoneHappen also after playing on the two week trial I was this close 👌🏽 to buying it until it said every month #NotGoneHappenAgain and I've never purchased ANYTHING in a game EVER... I say that to say this the prices are crackish and I'm sad because I love playing at 200cc!!! But playing at 200cc and having to go back to 150cc suuuuuuucks 😩 I was this close 👌🏽 to un-installing this game BUT I'm willing to give Nintendo a chance. I grew up on Mario Karts so I have high expectations for the 2019 version. Please put some respect on this game, give us an option to be able to play at 200cc when we reach a certain player level or have to purchase it with the rubies it takes a miracle to get, 5$ for 2 months gold pass, and please switch up the pipe prices because they are kind of crackish prizes too. Minor things! Oh and multilayer come on I thought this would have been on the game from the jump Fun Run even had that option. Hopefully this helps maybe it won't but hopefully something #Gonehappen. Signed, A Mario Kart addict 😁🤪.Version: 1.1.1
!👍🏾When I first saw that nintendo was releasing Mario kart on mobile is the best news I’ve heard so far as in mobile games couldn’t get any better. Don’t get me wrong the gameplay of the game is really fun the best experience also with the main menu and the shop all those features are really nice for. Than when I come to find out I have to upgrade the karts and the gliders and characters It’s alright I don’t have a problem with it. On what I do is that it would be better if we where allowed to get a little more coins than we do same thing with the gems just feels like I’m not getting enough for the items in the shop. Another thing is I wish there weren’t that many limits to stuff and wish we could get a little more rewards in the game like items to upgrade and more coins, same with the gems. Just hope these things would happen in later updates oh and another thing that would make the game a little better don’t end up making the game be a “pay to win game” that would make the experience even better. Hopefully more characters are added in the game and karts, gliders, maps and the multiplayer hope it’s like the same experience like the Nintendo switch but besides that great game lots of fun something really new.!!!.Version: 1.0.1
Love this Game...HoweverIt’s been a while since I enjoyed a game like this on my phone, even as an Apple Arcade subscriber... I went ahead and ponied up for the Gold Pass about 1 month after starting Mario Kart Tour, and I’ve found that the value for Gold (Almost) made sense, you get access to a couple high level players, karts etc, and the extra loot from every gift box, as well as access to the 200cc courses, but that’s where the advantage stops. If you ever want to ace these courses (5 Star) from this point forward, it’s not so much a matter of your “skill” in play, as much as it is for the advantage gained by high level players, karts and kites that you would only access from the Pipe. Which means you need Rubies and Rubies are expensive and hard to earn without those higher level players... also the frequency of high level “wins” for plays is ridiculous IMO, i have spent over 1000 rubies on the pipes so far and it just feels like you come up short. This is why I chose to Cancel my Gold Pass, reset my profile and delete/uninstall Mario Kart Tour. Although I enjoyed the brief attempt at multi-player, I think I’ll stick to playing MK on my switch for the competitive feel. Maybe I’ll circle back around, but for now, the juice is not worth the squeeze..Version: 1.6.0
A couple changes could really improve game playFrom start up app is completely user friendly, easy to navigate as well as get started even if you don’t have a Nintendo profile. Once in the game it looks amazing, all the great memories of childhood come flooding back and you are reunited with your inner child. My only complaint is game play, as it is streamless and easy to use I feel it is lacking in both immersion as well as accuracy. Immersion, I feel playing the game in wide screen and giving the player a true left and right as well as throttle and break controls, or keep auto throttle and move weapon usage and drift on buttons, could even set it up for double tap in the direction of the turn to initiated drift or put turning on joystick but swiping left and right. Swiping left and right seems to have the vehicle constantly needing a direction input due to a lack of getting back on center too slowly or something of that nature. Game play, I feel if the above is changed it will completely improve game play and bring competitiveness forefront as well as the want to continue to play and advance through the game. Just my two pennies. Those are the only reasons I give the game 4 out of 5. Everything else in the game is amazing but those areas are lacking, playing on wide screen and a change to driving controls would be highly encouraged..Version: 1.0.1

Bad Choice By Nintendo, here’s why:Nintendo has always been a large part of people’s childhood, being played on the “DS” systems and the “WII” consoles. Putting on Mobile will only decrees the value of the DS and WII, therefore less people will buy it, which means less money for Nintendo. In my opinion, I think putting the Mario-Kart game on mobile takes the fun out of playing it on the WII and The DS consoles. It was a poor decision by Nintendo, and people are too gullible to see it. After all, I have to say that this is my opinion and there is no need to take it seriously. It’s just what I think, and I think it’s fair to have a say on the internet. The game itself is alright, but I would much rather play it on the DS and the WII. This is my opinion, I think some people should at least consider it..Version: 1.0.2
Super fun but still some problemsThis is a great phone game, I’m not much of a phone game person but the Nintendo team have done a great job on this one. However, there are a few issues I’ve experienced: 1. A few times a day while I’m playing, the game will crash either before, during or right after a race. It’s super frustrating but I understand that the app is still being fine tuned, it’s not something that I can’t deal with. 2. The more frustrating thing is that there’s been a few times that I’ve earned rubies from the presents unlocked with stars, but they’re not added to my account!! It’s hardly fair if we don’t even get the bonus rubies we’re entitled to in the game. 3. Also, what happened to daily rewards?? It’s so hard to stock up on rubies and tickets etc. now. I don’t know if you guys have stopped it or is it just not working for some people? Anyway it’s a great game, just needed to get those things off my chest. Keep up the great work Nintendo!.Version: 1.0.2
An awesome adaptation to the Mario franchiseThe fact that the game is free to play is good enough in itself, but the gameplay and graphics are amazing and this game was definitely worth the wait. It has already given me hours of entertainment and the pipe/ loot box system is completely fair unlike with some other games. Another great addition is the fact that the characters have to be changed frequently for the best results. This game has stunned me and I feel it is so good it could be ported to the switch.Version: 1.0.1
Progress resets every 2 weeksAs a casual player, I'm frustrated that my progress is reset to the easy races every 2 weeks. Each time I log on, I have one track available with no challenge. Even if I spent money, I can't unlock more fun races. Rather than resetting progress, I propose this to allow players to progress. In each tour, remember how many gold stars are earned in each cup (out of 18.) At the end of the tour, these gold stars become silver stars in the relative cups of the next tour, and contribute towards unlocking cups. Cups unlocked by silver stars are immediately playable, without completing prior cups. If a player earns gold stars in a cup that has silver stars, only the gold stars in excess of the silver stars are counted. So if in the first tour you earned 18, 17 and 12 stars in the first three cups, then you would start the second tour with 47 silver stars. In the second tour, third cup, earning 15 gold stars would give 3 more stars for unlocking cups, which would carry on to future tours. Gifts are only unlocked by gold stars, not silver stars. This way you don’t start the tour with a bunch of unlocked gifts, you still have to earn them. Tour Challenge stars are reset each tour, meaning you might fall back one or two cups, but not lose all of your progress..Version: 1.1.1
Amazingly superfunI’m a Switch owner and being spoiled with the incredible Mario kart deluxe I was really skeptic about this mobile version at the beginning. But once get used with the control system, which of course differs a lot, and accepted some obvious trade offs, this game really delivers hours of great fun for free. And this despite the absence of an online multiplayer experience. If Nintendo will ever manage to make this functionality real, well, this could easily become one of the most played mobile racing games ever..Version: 1.0.2
I Love this gameI started playing around the Easter tour and since I always played Mario kart wii I already knew most of the controls, and got used to the new ones easily. Since then I have played everyday. I always wish to get new characters, and so far, every tour has given me at least 1 new character. Plus this new tour is exceptional. I have always wanted donkey Kong jr in this game, since I am very into the 80s, even though I'm only in my early teens but even though I have never played donkey Kong jr I am a big fan of it, so seeing it come into the game was awesome. Plus it's pixelated like the old video game! I just hope I get donkey Kong jr SNES or at least Mario SNES. This is my favourite game especially for a mobile game. I dont have the gold pass, because I don't have much money but I hope I can soon because I would love to have the gold pass. Thank you for cheering me up nintendo..Version: 2.4.0
Ice Tour is the Tipping PointYou started off rough but I held out hope for you. You got better, but you hit your peak not even into December. The last good tour was the Halloween Tour. Hell, I saved up for it since I knew what was coming. But now you’re back to square one, back to pampering the Whales, and even Goldpass users are getting the shaft! I want you to get better, which is why I’m calling you out on your scummy practises of not changing the shop lineup in months, not giving out enough rubies to anyone not willing to pay, and the absolutely horrible way you’re handling tiers beyond tier 20. If you see this review of mine, random reader, I plead of you, change your vote to 1 Star. Otherwise, they’ll just make it hell for everyone that isn’t a whale..Version: 1.4.1
Best mobile game I’ve played but please fix...Best mobile game I’ve played. Better than a lot of games I’ve played. Really well adapted for mobile and the daily/weekly challenges are an awesome idea to keep you coming back. Please though. Can you disable the iOS reach-ability swipe down function when in game. Sliding your finger around the bottom of the screen constantly means I’m having to undo the screen dropping down. Very annoying. And don’t want to have to keep turning this function on and off myself..Version: 1.0.2
Great game!!I downloaded this game a while ago and it’s super fun! I love Mario kart on Nintendo switch, wii, etc. but the controls are kinda hard for me to use so I usually end up last but this app is easy to steer so it’s perfect for me :) The only bad thing is that it sometimes takes a while to load and for me it’s kind of hard to get new cars, characters and things like that but I don’t really mind to be honest. Besides that, it’s a really great game and I really recommend that you get it!! Hoped this helped anyone! <3.Version: 2.1.1
Highly recommend!Previously I never was able to play much Mario kart on any other platform, but when I found that it was coming to the App Store I was thrilled, so I pre ordered it. I have to say, this is the only game I’ve really been playing since. It’s super fun competing against others around the globe and collecting new characters and cars. The controls are quite simple, but if they’re too simple for you, you do have the ability to change them. Anyway, I love the game, it is definitely worth the download..Version: 1.0.1
Pretty cool! Could use some work thoughPlayed the first cup so far and first impressions are that it’s a pretty good app. I mean I never thought I’d ever be playing Mario kart on an iPad it’s so cool. Although just some suggestions. The kart is rlly hard to control like sometimes you want to go one way but the kart goes the other way and also sometimes when your steering the game gets confused and thinks that you want to use an item which is kinda annoying at times. Plz fix this by maybe using a different mechanism for the steering like for example tilting the iPad in the direction you want to go or have a small steering wheel in the corner of the screen that you can steer with just so the game doesn’t get confused and makes you use an item when you don’t want to. Also adding multiplayer would be really cool cause I mean that’s what Mario kart is all about. playing with your friends. Also the graphics are a bit pixelated not sure if that’s just because I’m using a larger device (an iPad Pro 12.9) or whether it looks like that on all devices. Apart from that it’s rlly cool though I love how the cups are based on places around the world.Version: 1.0.1
Mario Kart Tour (8.5/10) The Good and the BadI love this game Dutch a fun time with Awsome items cool tricks and a new play through experience it try takes a tour in your pocket. The problems I face with this game are as follows The controls: as I think the game is controlled well I am not all the happy with it sometimes turning can be tricky and trying to use items while turning will end up in you hitting the edge of the road. The Items: As previously stated the use of items while turning is a conundrum and using the items accidentally happens far to often. I believe a simple fix for this would be a simple extra button so that your able to complete the race in a scenario where you make less mistakes. Luigi: Luigi is one of my faves second only to cat Mario. The only place he appears in game is the opening screen. I mean you added baby peach before you added even Baby Luigi. Apart from this issues I have a lot of fun with the game. (8.5/10).Version: 1.1.1
My dreams came trueeee ⭐️🍄🍌⚡️When I was younger I used to play on my Dads old Nintendo 64 console and play Mario Kart for hours unimaginable, so when this game came out I was over the moon. You guys have recreated the original versions really well, keeping tradition but also adding more modern features. The fact that courses based on real places are available is really great and also how levels do get harder as you move forward. Like I said me and my family did play the old Mario Kart a lot and we really enjoy the competitive leaderboard amongst friends. Something I would love to be added is trading karts, gliders and drivers with friends/other players. I think this would be a great way to get rid of things you think you don’t need or get things you want. It’s a win win for both people involved in the trade. From the Peach abscessed Mario Kart player..Version: 1.0.2
Lost It’s Charm— I hope multipayer comes soonMicro-transactions make the game feel inauthentic. Impossible to simply enjoy racing for first place. This new points-based system has gotten out of hand. The game is essentially unplayable unless you have a special kart or driver or glider. Most of these are purchased (not won) which again makes the game feel inauthentic. It’s clear that you are racing against bots and not in real-time. This is why everyone is so desperate for the multiplayer version. JUST GIVE ME MULTIPLAYER Also what is the deal with having to wait days to move onto the next cup? It says the cup is closed for maintenance but you can instantly play the new cup as long as you purchase a ‘quick ticket’ (again with these micro transactions) Whenever I am playing I know that the game would be so much more enjoyable if: 1) I didn’t have to race for points that are dependent on how many power ups I use or how many combos I make... which driver/car/glider... what is wrong with 1st, 2nd, 3rd??? 2) Wasn’t bombarded with all of these micro transactions 3) Didn’t feel terrible every time I CAME FIRST PLACE yet didn’t collect enough points to earn more grand stars or whatever. Just every time I play I feel disappointed... but I keep coming back because I love Mario Kart so much. I just wish that a more authentic gaming experience was promoted rather than having to open my wallet to have a good time PLEASE I JUST WANT MULTIPAYER.Version: 1.0.2
Evolving the classicLove the game and I think they did a good job in making it fast paced and not stagnant which I was really worried about. It’s a bit annoying that you can’t see the stats of the characters/cars. It’s all about points which makes it a tasteless victory and finally, the driving. Not a fan of the turning but I guess it works in the end and the real baffling bit is the “advanced controls” option. The car just skids every time and it’s not user friendly (even for a mario kart fanatic like myself). Overall, a brilliant phone rendition of a beautiful classic. Wonderful job Nintendo and thank you. I’ll always have a space in my heart for your games..Version: 1.0.2
Shameless, Greedy, Lazy, Pay 2 Win Cash GrabFor the first couple of months, it was quite enjoyable, but as time goes on...it’s reached a stage where if you don’t throw ludicrous amounts of $$$ at the game, you have no chance of winning any rewards. This is most evident in the new “Winter Tour” released yesterday, the competitive cup match requires you to buy a $40 character to have even the slightest chance of winning!!! NOT OK! Also the game has become a boring, repetitive grind as they keep cycling the same 10 courses week after week (and trying to palm off the same track, but with a few extra jumps as a “new” course!), and the only new characters (that you literally have 1% chance of winning) are just re-skinned versions of Mario or Princess Peach..Version: 1.4.1
Worth the wait :)I pre-ordered the game a few weeks back and this morning I was super excited to find that it had installed yet when I opened it, it said that the game was still under maintenance which I see a lot of people complaining about. For me it had a time for when the game will be finished (which for me was 7.00 at night) so I waited and, well, it was done! I have been playing it literally non-stop ever since and it’s literally everything I had hoped for. It’s heaps of fun and the graphics are stunning. Really amazing game and definitely worth a higher rating!.Version: 1.0.1
Great Game With One Major FlawI enjoyed this game very much, but after a while it becomes quite repetitive like most games which makes you lose interest. One of the biggest reasons for Mario Karts success was due to its multiplayer function. I love playing against my friends. I enjoyed the ranking system but multiplayer was promised to come out soon but you would imagine it would of been released when the game was initially released or at least a month after due to it being a major function. Overall the quality of the game is superb and it runs smoothly for me. Hopefully the developers priority is releasing multiplayer, I think it would increase not only its profits overall but its gameplay. So I believe it would be a win win for both the players and the developer. Have a good day..Version: 1.1.1
Multiplayer had so much potential.Multiplayer feels very lacklustre; there is absolutely no incentive to ever go back to multiplayer unless with friends because of the nature of how the game is designed. There is no sense of diversity because the game encourages the player to pick the most suitable character and the problem with that is that the gameplay within multiplayer feels unfinished, it feels mundane. Typically everyone plays as the same character and the game doesn’t reward you on your racing skills, rather racking up the most number of points at any given map. Instead of focusing on character selection, go back to the roots of Mario Kart; make it so that you can’t change characters after every map because honestly, everything feels the same. Or better yet, go back to one item per item box, at least in multiplayer. I honestly would rather play in the single player cups than on multiplayer, unless I’m playing with my friends. There is so much potential wasted; the single player was fine because the AI didn’t pick the same sets of characters at least..Version: 1.6.0
A great game, however wish they fixed some things upA great game with many different characters and engaging levels. The controls are nice and easy to use with rarely any glitches. Many different weapons of choice which are very unique and make this game fun and entertaining. There are a few issues however such as constantly getting the same characters every single day which takes a while for me to make a single purchase for any vehicle, character and parachute and personally I wish it was 3 laps rather than 2. Sometimes the levels and challenges do get very repetitive. I also wish that the multiplayer was for all players, not just for the gold cup users. I wish every character is available for purchase when you want, not only having daily selections. I also wish they include the star as a item from the crates for all characters..Version: 2.1.1
Amazing!I just want Nintendo to know that I’d love nothing better than to trade school for a whole day of sitting in bed, cranking up the music and racing through the day in Mario Kart Tour! Characters are so cute: Baby peach, Baby daisy, baby Mario... I love firing up the pipe to get them! I get super mad when I’m knocked back but hey, don’t I do that to other people too? My main concern though is that I really wanna race my friends. I’m sure multiplayer would bump up the ratings and you’d have no more haters! To whoever is reading this, parents or kids, please get this game for you or your child! I recommend it!.Version: 1.0.1
Not without its issuesThe gameplay is generally fine with very little lag. The game itself is pretty fun and I’m on board with the fact that the app needs transactions to function so it’s not that big a deal. What gets me however is that the app constantly is crashing and having me ‘Clear the cache and repair’ which is really draining when all I want to do is open the app without any issues for once. I’m now a weekly instead of a daily playing mostly due to this. I would prefer to stick with apps where I don’t have to wait for minutes just to load it. Fix this, and I’ll be back for more..Version: 1.4.1
Some people are just impatient...I absolutely adore this game and it’s amazing! I honestly don’t understand why people are complaining about things like: the maintenance time, the fact there’s no multiplayer feature, etc.. I’ve had absolutely no problems with the steering and the graphics are absolutely amazing. As for the multiplayer feature if you actually look in the menu there’s a multiplayer button that says it’s coming soon, you guys need to remember that this game has just come out and is still being worked on..Version: 1.0.1
Pretty good so far.(Please note I am writing this review during the FIRST TOUR and my complaints may be fixed in a future update.) So far, the game is alright. It controls well and runs surprisingly smoothly, but that doesn’t mean it is devoid of issues. Firstly, microtransactions. They aren’t so bad compared to other gaming companies (EA I’m looking at you) but most features such as 200cc and literally playing as Nintendo’s flagship character are locked behind a paywall. Secondly, the game can be misleading at times. A big example of this is Luigi. He appears in the promotional art / the title screen, but is unplayable in the game itself. As well as this, the game has a facade of playing with other people. When you join a race, it randomly generates names for each of the racers to create an illusion of playing with other people. However, it’s not that bad if you just ignore it. Finally, your lengths. Each tour lasts 2 weeks, which is unnecessarily long. I get that Nintendo needs time to make new courses for the next tour, but I feel as if the tours could be a day or two shorter. Overall, this game plays very well but has some flaws that could be improved..Version: 1.0.2
It wasn’t broken before - but now it needs fixing. When it first released this app was so amazing. It was one of the few apps with in game purchases where I felt it was worth it to pay for the subscription. But over the past few updates, the rewards for gold pass members have become pretty meagre and so I’ve cancelled my subscription. The prizes from pipes have also lately been terrible - I pulled all the items from a pipe and the best prizes didn’t come until the very last pull. From talking to other players, it seems like this is what happens once you’ve been playing for a while - you get hooked and then you rarely get anything good from pipes. Final complaint is that the tours haven’t been great for a while. It was really fun when there were tours from around the world (although Vancouver was a kind of strange choice) and I was looking forward to more world locations with fun characters and races. Waiting to race in locations like Australia, Machu Picchu, and various parts of Africa. All that aside, it’s still a pretty fun game on the free version. The graphics are great and it’s a nice throwback. It’s just not the kind of game you are drawn to keep playing or spend money on, especially in comparison to what it used to be..Version: 2.1.1
Fantastic!I got this yesterday and have been playing it more than I expected to. The reason is that it’s made Mario Kart work on mobile better and more unique than I thought it would. For players wanting this game, I say go for it, it is a great game. I recommend playing this on a iPad as it has more room to move than a smaller device such as an iPhone. One thing keeping it from 5/5 stars is the price on in-app purchases, I don’t mean it in a choosing beggar way, but $3 AUD for 3 rubies? But other than that, one of the greatest mobile games I’ve played! Cheers!.Version: 1.0.1
WORTH IT!This app is totally worth the download and my friends and family love playing it, some things we’d like to see change though is maybe if you would be able to change the sensitivity as it can be hard to control and another thing is if you could play with your friends, I’m not sure if their is a way to do that already or not but we’ve tried to all join and do a race and can’t seem to find anything to make it happen. Apart from that it’s a really fun game!.Version: 1.0.2
The game is great... but not perfectI am a HUGE fan of the Mario Kart series. It’s always been apart of my life since I was little. Mario Kart Tour got me interested, despite micro transactions. The game is great to play, just like a regular Mario Kart entry... if I could actually play a majority of it that is. Maybe it’s because I’m using an older device (iPad Air) but the game is almost unplayable sometimes. My main issue is that when I choose specific tracks, it crashes the entire app while loading it after a few seconds, kicking me out to try again. If that track doesn’t load, it doesn’t load for good. This means that I am limited to the amount of Grand Stars I can get, thus missing out on Tour Gifts as I play. This also means that I can’t finish all the cups, meaning the All Clear Pipe is inaccessible. If someone from Nintendo is reading this review, please, PLEASE look into this. I want to spend as much time with Mario Kart Tour as any other game in the series but the app just doesn’t want me to see a lot of what the game potentially has in store me. Please fix this as soon as you see this review. From a Nintendo fan for as long as he can remember..Version: 2.6.1
Great game!I enjoy playing Mario Kart Tour, and what makes it unique is the fact that you can race on courses inspired by the real world. I am all good with touch controls, but I would like to see a horizontal mode. In addition, while people say the micro transactions ruin the game, I don’t care about them. It’s all about the actual gameplay. Also, I find the CPU players (They are actually not real players!) just too easy for me and I wish I could choose a harder difficulty in which doing so would win more points. Thanks again and I look towards all the further updates and tours!.Version: 1.2.0
Better then originalsI’m a massive original oldskool and newskool Mario Kart player and I was skeptical at first to play this on Mobile. However they’ve enhanced the graphics and the gameplay somehow. Sure you’re not playing with a controller but for what they’ve done with the controllers it’s quite good once you get used to it. And the best part is the gameplay. It’s still got that MK feel. I haven’t paid for any upgrades there is heaps to do for free here. The only thing I’m not so sure on is the online play and whether it’s in real-time which I don’t think it is as of yet..Version: 1.2.0
Fun but kind of disappointing (so far)So I really enjoyed the game at first. Its loads of fun as mario karting always is but slowly the flaws came out. You can only earn a certain amount of exp. and coins a day... not very fun. You can’t just play through the whole game as you have to wait days for new cups to unlock... not great either. There’s not a whole lot of maps to race on? Just the same few maps with some changes here or there.. also draining from the overall fun scale. And i normally buy some extras with these kinds of games, and i have already, but these are a little expensive for what you get, which is a bit of a bummer too..Version: 1.1.1
Slot machines for kids, its not even a gameThe game is basically pay to win, also is the gacha element really necessary? And the monthly subscription, I’d rather buy a game than to pay for a subscription. I’m gonna play sonic instead, their graphic isn’t as good but at least it’s not pay to win and they support controllers. Oh, it’s also 7.99 per month too I, and many others, was hoping this game will be like the rest of Mario kart, where i can have a fun afternoon with my friends, this is so far from what we were expecting Edit: I found out they are programmed to let you win, you cant lose even if you don't touch the screen, so it’s not even a game. That makes it just a slot machine, and the age rating is 4+ makes it really disgusting. Hence changing my 3 stars rating to a 1 star..Version: 1.0.1
Nintendo - child gamblingNintendo has always been staunch about families, children, fun, bringing people together. Unfortunately Nintendo is now about training children to be gambling addicts. Sure you can play the tiny repetitive game that is squeezed in between loot boxes, monthly passes and crisis inducing time limit sales. Of course all the best equipment either requires large amounts of coins or gambling (with pauline’s cleavage egging your child on) both kept behind steep pay walls. turns out you don’t even play the tiny race. you can win without touching the screen! worse, the match up to race is a fraud. the names might be real, but once the race starts they are all bots. how do i know? play the game around 20% battery, so the warning pops up - the whole game will pause until you dismiss the warning, with all “players” stopped. you should lose, or if it has you on rails, then it would snap forward. neither happen, it pauses. basically this game is disgusting and if operated as a physical business - it would be banned and the people who owned it put in jail for crimes against minors..Version: 1.0.1
Too much stuffI love Mario Kart and love the idea of playing it as a mobile game but its a mess. There are coins, stars, rubies, characters, karts and accessories to collect. Like I just want to drive a kart on courses I don’t really want to be overwhelmed with items and sub challenges. The app is all over the place, junk everywhere and most of its hard to follow (you use the rubies to buy a turn at the pipe or something 🙄🙄🙄). The functionality is hit and miss, can’t always drift and sometimes the kart goes the opposite way to the direction you steer it. Could be improved by simplifying the options and improvements to the controls.Version: 1.0.1
Why bother. The latest updates sees limits on everything - this was already a painfully grindy game, and they’ve made it worse. You’re already limited on daily coins, and rubies are difficult to come by - now you can’t even raise your player level experience if you’ve maxed out on a track, FOREVER. At least if it reset per tour that would be something. I also seem to get nothing but standard prizes in the pipe now - given the odds I should be getting one or two gold, but no. Tiers have changed so only 1st and 2nd go up 2/3 tiers. This means I’ll have to wait at least 7 WEEKS to get to fulfil the challenge of Tier 30 if I don’t come 1st, 2nd or last. And let’s not even talk about the level boost ticket challenge. You’re not encouraging me to buy a gold pass, you’re encouraging me to stop playing. Playing 1000’s of races with little reward is boring. Dull. Pointless..Version: 1.4.0
One of the most fun games in the store, until you hit the paywall. This games has the classic mariokart feel and performs well. I loved playing it for the 3 hours I got out of it until I hit the paywall. The game is crazy expensive compared to other games, and only provides a monthly subscription. I’ve paid up to $30 to buy other games like civilisation, but a monthly service is ridiculous when it costs as much as many video streaming services. At a point in the game, even if you have 4-5 stars for all other circuits, you cannot race any new circuits without high point racers that you have to pay for, or win by paying for jewels in a lottery kind of draw. Super disappointed I won’t get to keep playing. Add commercials or something, I’m not going to pay a monthly subscription..Version: 1.2.0
💵Pay to win cash grab 💵While I find this game quite fun to play, ,I find it disgusting how much they charge in real dollars, for very little in game value. If you were to spend your hard earned money on the maximum amount of in game currency, you could easily spend that on randomly drawn items (including ones you may already have) in under a minute. In saying that I’m not against Nintendo making money from this game. I can appreciate paying a once off, or a small monthly fee to unlock some extra perks. For a game heavily marketed to kids, what I find appalling is the heavy reliance of gambling mechanisms, to be able to get anywhere in the game. It’s because of this I can’t in good conscience give this game any more than one star, although I really enjoy the actual gameplay. Nintendo used to be so wholesome. What changed? You use to be cool..Version: 2.0.1
Mario kartOverall, a great addition to the App Store. It was well needed and is pretty good. There are a few things that I would change, for example you are not actually allowed to fall off the edge, but instead it just nudges you to the track. Some people might see this as a good thing, but I personally dislike it as the DS version does this game justice. Another thing is the maps. More iconic maps need to be added such as yoshi falls, bowsers castle, and rainbow road. I also hope that multiplayer comes out soon. This will make a brilliant addition to the game, drawing in more players..Version: 1.0.1
Great Job Nintendo!Great way to get Mario & Friends out there, makes so much sense to call it MK Tour! My partner and I Love the new characters, karts, races and themed tours. Gold Pass is fair giving collectors and fast paced gamers, Limited Time items, a boost in upgrading race parts and playing the game at a faster pace. A little tweaking to some couple known issues like, the point system for upgrading Characters, Karts and Gliders base levels is quite slow, giving you more XP by putting up the ‘XP limit for the day’ would be more thrilling. Maybe giving the player with/and without Gold Passes, even more quests to do, with coins instead of Ruby’s and Shines, to give casual players more prizes and experienced players more chances to play to tie over time until the next tour comes out. Overall, amazing everything. Huge game! Just in my pocket. Great Job Nintendo! Ps: Neat how you added shines as a call back ;).Version: 1.6.0
Poker / Slot machine pretending to be Mario KartAfter completing the simple ‘Mario Cup’, it became obvious the game was inspired by gambling. Listen in a casino - the machines make quick and stimulating sounds. When you “pull the pipe” for 5 rubies (Nintendo’s terminology for a spin), the game rewards you with an accessory for your car. But players can gamble more rubies (15) for 10 pulls of the pipe. Each reward is labelled as something encouraging - “HIGH END!” This makes you think maybe one more pull (ugh) and maybe I’ll win something even more rare. The sound effects and graphical flourishes are just like what you get in casinos. Only here it’s marketed as the number 1 racing app for families. Hmm. I’ll go get more rubies to pull the pipe for 10 more rounds..Version: 1.0.1
App doesn’t start the gameWhen I open the app it just says Nintendo and nothing else. Nothing works. Before this it was fine but I’m afraid my progress will be deleted if I delete the app and download it again. Also introduce many more pathways and more secret passages. Some are just impossible without a mushroom. Nobody wants that. We just want it to be hidden and for not everyone to know it. Not seeing it but not being able to enter it. The daily limit of coins and level upgrade of items is useless and just frustrating. Give the option to play with friends before making it fully international if it’s going to take too long. In the daily challenges don’t make specific characters do certain jobs. I still haven't gotten Mario and can’t finish the first quest. Just seems useless again. Just please give us updates for the crashes. I won’t be able to get my daily gems..Version: 1.0.1
Sick game but I’m hoping it stays that wayI’ve been playing this game for a few weeks. Absolutely no complaints about graphics, controls, gameplay etc. I even sprang for the ‘gold’ membership and I never do that. Problem now is, I’ve completed all of the recent cups and nothing new has been offered up in the last few days. I’m really not going to keep paying for something that doesn’t seem to update. I’m giving it 5 stars for now, just as benefit of doubt, but I’ll be cancelling my membership and deleting the app if the courses aren’t updated soon..Version: 1.1.1
Great game, 10 out of 10.LOVE this new instalment to the MARIO kart series. It have everything you could hope for. Or does it? Random things have happened since the demo. Like characters such as Rosalina, Baby Rosalina, EVEN LUIGI have gone missing. Like those 3, the coopalings (I don’t know how to spell it) aren’t in the game like some arrivals said. I hope that these people get added in future tour (like Pauline and music mario) Or update. Another thing is the courses.i get that it’s a mobile game so they can’t be long ones, but why don’t you just make new ones. I was soooo excited when I saw NYC but then it popped up again... but with added boosters and ramps. Then again. And again. And so on. It gets a bit tiring. Please listen to us, Nintendo! Add Rosalina (my favourite);) add new tracks!!! (Suggestion for a track: a version on the bowsers castle from the wii — the one with the giant bowling bowser) And please do your best!!!! Thank you for a amazing game though!.Version: 1.0.1
LOVE THE GAME! Nintendo makes video games into our smartphones in a creative way!The fact that this game is the best it’s still point out a few references that I love when it was in the video game console: 1. Gyro-Control Ever since the Wii was released gyro-control made the experience feel & look better but today you’ve proven that you’ve made it better by adding this feature in the game & making ourselves more comfortable to play with. Also tbh I haven’t even tried an Xbox one controller on Mario kart but maybe next time. 2. Classic levels I really love the levels because some of these feel like nostalgia & to be fair some of the levels come from different games (e.g. Super Mario Odyssey) 3.GRAPHICS (IMPROVED A LOT!) When it comes to Nintendo they just don’t depend on JUST one device they depend on all devices by optimising graphics & making it look more better when I tried this on the iPhone 5s it still was playable in a decent 30 frames & didn’t had any lag at all! If we compare to newer phones we could see that the optimisation of these phone definitely stands out great! 4. Rewards Nintendo gives us rewards in different games which in fact started when Miitomo released calling the rewards program My Nintendo which is great! So I hope you love this comment I’m sorry if I wasted you’re time a little bit but I hope you appreciate it and I hope we’ll give you the best of luck Nintendo! -Ynigo Nintendo Fan.Version: 1.0.1
Some improvements that could be made.I’ve been playing this game for a while and it’s an awesome game for sure, but there are some things I would like the developers to change which is why I’m not giving it a 5 star. Firstly, I don’t understand why we aren’t allowed to grind experience for our characters, karts and gliders. My point is, why is there a limit to the amount of experience you gain per day? Secondly, as you get a higher tier in the weekly ranking tournament, it gets way too hard to actually beat the other players or CP in the tournament and get a better score than majority of them. I’ve gotten 5 star on all the courses in the cup but I’m still at least 20,000 points away from the top player or CP! The competition is just getting way too hard and now the only way I can get gems to pull from the pipe is by claiming the daily rewards that only give me 5 gems at a time or slowly opening presents from earning enough grand stars during cups. Although they do give you quite a lot of gems overall, my point is that the competition in the weekly ranked tournament is too hard. I would really appreciate it if the developers would take this into consideration. It would be the absolute best if they could apply these changes but they probably won’t just listen to one person, so I would like them to at least understand what one of their players are feeling about their game with this review, if any of them even see it..Version: 1.4.1
Only Good for So LongAt first, I was really excited while playing the game. But now to even get high scores, you have to buy the specific carts/drivers/gliders or spend all your gems on a game of chance to win any of the mentioned items. Or buy the subscription gold pass service. Multiplayer mode is still pretty dodgy (connection and gameplay wise) plus you can only access one public room (if you’re not willing to pay for the gold pass) or play with friends in local mode. At the end of the day, to be completely satisfied with the game, you best get that wallet out. Otherwise you’ll be left in the dust of those willing to pay $40+ for a game pack that includes one cart and 5 gems..Version: 2.0.1
Okay game, nintendo is lying to usI really enjoy this game, especially since i can practically play it anywhere, however i’m extremely disappointed about the changes made. to begin every race is only 2 laps, and does not differentiate between cause like in the older and newer titles. to continue mario is also not a default character? mario is the embodiment of nintendo yet he isn’t a starting character? to top it all off nintendo has not yet released an online multiplayer mode yet. instead, tricking you into believing you are playing with other people by randomising usernames of who you play with. this is EXTREMELY disappointing and i hope the online feature will be available rather soon. i was pondering on the thought that maybe the single player mode is kind of like time trials, but their is no way to see how long it takes you to complete a course. anyways, i hope to see this game improve in the feature, overall 3/5 stars. <3.Version: 1.1.1
Fun ! But few suggestionsI’ve already gotten addicted to this game, but there’s a few things I would change in the game. I think the maximum amount of coins you can earn in a day should at least be 500, and not 300. It would be a lot more convenient if we could add friends through their usernames and not through codes that are hard to share. And I think there should be more available to purchase with coins. But overall, the gaming experience so far has been great and a lot of fun, except the maintenance waiting times..Version: 1.0.1
Don’t fall for micro transactionsMario Kart mobile is incredibly addictive. It looks amazing graphically compared to previous Mario kart games. It’s updated regularly with new drivers, karts and gliders. The catch is, in this game, to win you need to get points. And to get points you need to have the right drivers and karts for each course. This drives the sales of micro transactions which aim to sell relatively useless in game items for exorbitant prices (as high as $60 for small bundle). These in game purchases are almost literal theft as you get next to nothing of worth in game for your money. Theres also a loot box system with equally high costs for effectively little chance at improving in the game. Putting aside the in game purchases this game is actually really fun. Lots of new power ups have been included making races even more fun than before. New courses and variations on courses bring fresh gameplay every 2 weeks. I don’t know how to end this review. Don’t get caught by Nintendo’s money trap..Version: 1.4.1
