Pupil Distance PD Measure App User Reviews & Comments

Doesn’t work well for droopy eyelidsIt is difficult to hold a credit card, a phone and take a picture at the same time. Droopy eyelids complicate things. I put some masking tape on the front of the credit card and stuck it on my upper lip. So I was able to get a measurement and since I wasn’t confident that I had good results, I measured again with a ruler and got the same result. I am a complicated case since several problems with my eyes and face that make the measurement difficult. For the average person, this would probably work fine..Version: 1.3

Not badI had my boyfriend measure my pd a few days ago and he said it was 63 then I asked him a day after to check it again just in case and he still said 63 but then he said 64. I didn’t doubt him but I needed to make sure the measurement was right so I got this app and it said 63.5 which honestly sounds about right. I took 2 different photos and I got the same measurement so I can’t believe the app is pretty accurate c:.Version: 1.2.7

Awful. Waste of moneyAwful. Got a different result every time I tried it. Not even close to the measurement I got using ruler. Total waste of money.Version: 1.3

Positioning arrowsIt is a bit cumbersome to position the arrows. Too sensitive and hard to grab them. When I would get the red arrows positioned and then remove my finger, they would move just a little, throwing the positions off. Also, sometimes I was unable to make them move because they are so small that my finger was not right on top of them.....Version: 2.0.1

AR enthusiastWithin 2mm, so not bad, but not great. Works when I shut my eyes, so that means it’s a guess at best, no? ARKit eye tracking and estimation? Not really a PD measurement but nice idea..Version: 2.0

EasyNeeded something quick to order my glasses thank goodness I found this. It was very simple to use, sounds like a few people have had a hard time with this app but I don’t understand why it’s pretty easy to take a selfie..Version: 2.0.1

Does not workAt least it was consistently inconsistent. Double checked my positioning, card size, lighting, everything. Repeatedly gave me 51. My rough hand measurement was 66. Significantly off..Version: 1.3

Seems to work...By work I mean seems consistent. Repeated measurements were all within 1mm (1st widest, 2nd/3rd/4th same and 5th .5 wider than 2/3/4 but narrower than the 1st) which I assume is acceptable and this is probably better than holding up a paper ruler..Version: 1.2.7

Horrible App: Doesn't work :(App would not measure my pupils. It stayed on Automatic measurement 0% and black screen. Tried several times, and even turned off my iPhone and reset/restarted it. Don't waste your time, energy or money. Thouroughly disapointed..Version: 2.0.1

Unable to refundWhen I got this app I thought it was free but it costed 7 bucks so I thought “oh I can just refund it” but I wasn’t able to and that’s why I’m giving this 2 stars I would of given 1 star but I think it’s a good app..Version: 2.0.1

Works great! This is a great app to use if your eye doctor’s office is refusing to give you your PD. I had gotten my exam done and ordered a pair of glasses but after receiving them I was not happy at all and wanted to return them and look into buying online, but you need the PD. So I called and they said that it changes with each pair of glasses so it’s not part of my prescription and they can’t tell me, which I knew was crap, they just wanted to keep me buying from them. So I downloaded this app and did it a bunch of times and took the average of all those and then when I went and returned my glasses they pulled out all my paperwork and sure enough my PD was listed and it was the EXACT SAME as what I had averaged on here. Well worth the price when you’re saving by buying online..Version: 2.0.1

AccurateMatched the professional measurement exactly..Version: 1.2.7

Doesn't workMeasured twice it said 63 twice...... ordered glasses and it was obviously wrong... went to Walmart and ask for my PD they measured 65 twice, ordered glasses and it's prefect. Don't waste your money with this app!.Version: 1.2.7

Not consistentIt’s awfully hard to get the card & eye targets lined up — they tend to move as you release them, so it takes a few tries. After that, I got measurements that varied by as much as 2.5mm. The problem is NOT taking the picture, the problem lies in trying to target up the edges of the card and the pupils afterward...the movement is jerky and there is no option for fine tuning..Version: 1.3

Easy to use and accurateWorks like a charm. Super easy to use -- all you need is your iPhone or iPad camera and a credit card (for scale). Recently went to my optician for new glasses. He insisted on measuring my PD even though I told him I already knew it. His professional equipment gave me the exact same measurement -- to the 1/2 millimeter -- as this app..Version: 1.2.7

Excellent, works as advertisedI got this app to measure somebody else’s PD but used it first on myself and it came exactly as my prescription says.Version: 1.2.7

Tough to get accurate measurement.I have tried and tried and this is just not consistent enough for me to order glasses online..Version: 1.3

Great when worked!Worked great when first installed, now freezes at 0% and does not read anymore on iphone x after first day of using?.Version: 2.0.1

Accuracy is great!Love the app, has made it all the more easier for me to order glasses online! i was tired of going into physical eye doctors, overpaying for frames, but the one thing when eye doctors hand you your Rx prescriptions, they don’t provide you with your pupil distance. Perhaps a way to get you to place your frames order with them? Thank you for developing this app, people think of everything..Version: 1.3

Garbage!Completely inaccurate. It also seems to believe you can take a selfie while holding a credit card for reference measurement with one hand while taking a selfie with your other arm holding the phone at arm’s length. Lol! In addition it’s very inaccurate, gives off the scale results and not enabling user to measure PD of another person or using a mirror. Forced me to pay $5. for a worthless group of apps I WANT MY MONEY BACK!!! The positive reviews are fake!.Version: 1.2.7

Easier than it should beYou'd think with how much of a hassle it is to get someone to give you your PD measurement that an app like this couldn't work. I measured my PD 10 times and went with the average. Glasses are as good as anything I've bought in store. Would recommend to anyone who wants to buy glasses online. I would echo complaints about dragging the cross hairs. It's a bit finicky. A directional pad would be nice to get it centered with less hassle. Still 5 stars because I didn't have to leave my desk..Version: 1.2.7

Just crashesUsing an iPhone 6 Plus, newest system, every time I push the button to take a picture the app simply crashes.Version: 2.0.1

Different resultsTook 3 different pictures and it came up with 3 different results..Version: 1.3

Value buy given optionsI found any website that allows you to use web cam or device will lure you in with their measuring tool, only to hit a paywall or find you need to order. For $2.99, and especially if there are a few family members it's worth it. If you don't get fitted for frames at your exam you likely don't have your PD. I want the value of online frames, so need the PD. I took my measurement twice for both assurance and experienced drawback with tool: when aligning the target over your eyes...you drag it with your finger which makes it VERY difficult to see if your are centered because your finger controlling the target is over the eye. Developer feedback: make the targets have a control pad (4 directional arrows or what ever can be done) so that you can move the target without covering the eye!.Version: 1.2.7

Keep getting contrasting answersI’m 59.5 every time while the app says 56.5, I have hd enough quality to detect my pupils by hand so I keep getting the same answer but so does the app, kind of hard to trust.Version: 1.3

BogusThe ad for this app says “user friendly”... anything but. Used on iPad and didn’t work... took picture with back of credit card and program just quit. Can I just say fraud..Version: 2.0.1

Doesn’t work w iPhone XROver-estimated pupillary distance by 5mm on average. If they had some kind of calibration algorithm or relative reference it could be amazing, but until then, a total waste of $..Version: 2.0.1

Upped the price a dollarI had been trying to download this app for hours and was having issues and finally it allowed me to download but after they had upped the price a dollar. Not cool..Version: 1.3

Not accurateThis can not be used for having an accurate number. In my case it was 4.5 mm difference.(it was showing 4.5 less than the correct result) That is a lot for glasses..Version: 1.3

Not worth $4Not very effective, inconsistent, and not accurate. With the same photo I tried it four times and got three different results. It should do more intelligent processing, but the problem is that it’s diffuse to perfectly hold a credit card parallel to the phone. Between that and any height discrepancies between the eyes, you won’t get anything with a good enough tolerance.Version: 1.3

The automatic feature is amazingNo more fiddling with measurements with a credit card. It locks onto your pupils in seconds Optometrists won’t give a pupil distance because they claim that it would depend upon the frame and lens you get. Sound like BS. The amount of space between your eyeballs is a constant. They are just trying to get you to buy glasses on their place, at a cost of 4 to 6 times that of the online vendors..Version: 2.0.1

Easy and fast tool!Easy instructions and had my measurements in under 10mins! I definitely recommend if u need your pd measurements. No hidden fees or annoying pop-ups. Did the job I wanted it to do and did it fast and easy! 5 out of 5 stars!!!!.Version: 1.3

Very inconsistentI took 8 different readings using exactly the same procedure. I only had two measurements that matched. Very hard to move the targets over the eyes without them moving when you lifted your finger. I am going to buy another app this one is not precise.Version: 1.3

Doesn’t workCrashes every time I try to take the picture. I would like a refund..Version: 2.0.1

Loupe while placing guidelinesWhen you’re moving the guides around to center the card and your pupils, there should be a loupe that zooms in on that area so you can see the pixels more closely to ensure that you’re placing the marker as precisely as possible. There is a feature like this on the Mac (in the Preview app, I think), for comparison..Version: 1.2.7

Too muchI bought this app to measure my sons glasses to buy glasses online. His PD consistently comes in at 86. This seemed very large so I checked mine. The app came back with 84. My doctor measured mine at 59. So, I have paid 2.99 for an app that consistently measures my PD to be significantly larger than it actually is. We tried numerous times to measure my self and my son. If I didn’t know and ordered glasses with this I would be out the cost of the glasses. This is seriously not a good app..Version: 1.2.7

Not sure of the accuracyTook 3 different pictures and got different numbers each time. Measure with measuring tape got 2.5in or 63.5 and got 60.5, 61 and 61.5 with the app. Feel like I wasted $3.00 and still don’t have an answer to my PD..Version: 1.2.7

Impressed! It measured my PD the exact same as what my optometrist office measured it!.Version: 1.2.7

Crashes when taking the picCan’t take the required picture without crashing. Useless..Version: 2.0.1

Didn’t work and no response from the developersIt didn’t work for me. I get different numbers every time I use it. Seems like a random number generator. I emailed the developers asking for help over a week ago and haven’t heard back so now I’m sharing my experience. This app was a waste of time and money for me..Version: 2.0.1

Love it!Easy and accurate. Way better the the $20 my eye doctor wanted to charge me!.Version: 1.3

Why won’t the Dr give me my PD?If it’s this easy why do the doctors give you a hard time about getting this reading... they don’t want you to buy glasses online because they won’t get a commission on the glasses they sell! I love this app!.Version: 1.3

Much less accurate than a rulerTotal waste of money. I measured my PD 5 times with this app and got results between 61 and 68 which is a very wide range. Using a simple ruler I got to within 1-2 of my actual PD..Version: 1.2.7

Terrible useless do not purchaseMultiple readings with a wide range between 55 and 65 and very different from my ruler. Infuriating. Tells u to keep phone at eye level while fitting your head into designated circle area which u can not possible accomplish while simultaneously keeping phone at eye level..Version: 1.3

Works Well. Fast. Easy. Painless. Thank you!Fast.Version: 2.0.1

Easy to useHopefully this reading will be accurate! I'm ordering glasses online!.Version: 1.2.7

Utter GarbageThis app doesn’t work at all. It is insanely inaccurate and a waste of money. I could have given a monkey a ruler and he could’ve measured my eyes better. Thanks for the waste of money..Version: 1.2.7

Fair & Simple, What❗️This was refreshing to find a app that does what it says and no ads❗️WOW imagine that, and the price is fair and simple to use. This is like one of the select few reviews I made and I don’t like to write reviews unless they are Awesome or just a complete rip-off😊✅ty so much AWESOME JOB A++++++++++.Version: 2.0.1

Should of been a free app. This app should of been free, since you’ll only need to use it once a year if so much. Other than that, it works..Version: 1.2.7

Questionable resultsMeasurements are all 5mm or more off of what any optician has indicated and also from my own ruler based measurements. Control of markers extremely difficult - won’t stay where you put it..Version: 1.3

Incorrect measurementsI tried this at least 10 times. I got different results the first 3 times and then was told my P.D. was 58mm 5 times in a row. I ordered glasses based on that. Today I had my eyes professionally measured, 30 and 31, or 61. Off by 3mm. Not happy..Version: 1.3
